Alan brings 29 years of corporate law experience representing a wide range of companies (closely and publicly-held, well-established, start-up, for-profit and non-profit) in many industries, including tech. His broad and deep experience enable him to consistently close commercial deals for his clients, both as buyers and sellers, on the best possible terms. Before joining Outside GC, Alan was VP and GC at Cambridge Technology Enterprises, a high-tech incubator that spun off companies including Cambridge Technology Partners, i-Cube, OneWave, and C-Bridge Internet Solutions. In addition to corporate governance and operational matters, Alan's specialty was working closely with the sales departments of start-ups to close contracts on profitable terms with customers in the US and abroad. Prior to CTE, Alan was an associate with Bingham McCutchen and Hemenway and Barnes in Boston.

Alan graduated Amherst College magna cum laude, has a master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University, and took his JD at Stanford Law School.

His pro bono activities include obtaining 501(c)(3) status for PTOs in Newton, Massachusetts, incorporating and advising Theatre Ink, Newton North High School's award-winning teaching and theater program, and sitting on the board of the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art in Providence. He is a recipient of the Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award from the Boston Bar Association.

He lives in Newton with his wife and is enjoying the empty nest so far.
