Handbook for Employers: Guidance for Completing Form I-9

Posted by Lori Geisinger on March 3, 2017 at 1:30 PM

USCIS has published an updated handbook for employers, providing detailed guidance for completing Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification). This version - dated January 22, 2017 - replaces the previous handbook and supports the recently revised Form I-9 (November 14, 2016).

In addition to details on how to complete the revised Form I-9, the Handbook includes a streamlined Q&A section, as well as updated tables, figures and sample documents. It also captures policy and regulatory changes since 2013 and explains guidance regarding automatic extensions for certain Employment Authorization Documents.

The USCIS’ Handbook is a valuable resource for compliance work, especially for employers with foreign national employees. If you have general questions about Form I-9, please contact Gina Wodarski at gwodarski@outsidegc.com; and for questions relating to foreign workers, please contact Lori Geisinger at lgeisinger@outsidegc.com.
