He has advised executive teams and boards on key strategic corporate and commercial transactions, corporate governance issues, and internal business and risk management process development, and has frequently served clients as their outsourced General Counsel, including Lucidworks. Alan has acted as interim General Counsel of Plaid Technologies, a leading venture-backed fintech startup, Product Counsel for Splunk and Pandora Media, and Vice President, Legal Affairs for H2O.ai., the leading open source machine learning and AI platform. He has also represented other notable clients such as Adobe, GitHub, Udacity, Singularity University and Symbio. Alan began his in-house legal career at Internet infrastructure software company, Inktomi, and before that was a senior associate practicing corporate law in the Business Transactions Group of the San Francisco office of, McKenna & Cuneo, LLP.  He began his career serving as Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in their Chicago Regional office.
